Who is Archbishop Oscar Romero?

Oscar Romero was a Roman Catholic priest; who became the Archbishop of San Salvador; he was assassinated on March 24th, 1980. He was killed by supporters of the government of El Salvador because he had publicly spoken out against the violations of human rights by the El Salvador government. He called up on all Christians who were soldiers in the army of El Salvador to not support such acts of repression. He was also openly critical of the United States for supplying the El Salvador government with military aid while the El Salvador government was repressing the human rights of its citizens.
