Is the Episcopal Church considered a Catholic Church?
OK, so we have been visiting both a Roman Catholic Church & an Anglican/Episcopal Church. I am unclear of the Episcopal Church is actually a type of other Catholic Church? I know it is not Roman catholic, right? But, on the various magazines, info, & even Church bulletins - all of my Episcopal materials say "Catholic"? And, they do offer a "High Mass" as one of the 3 services every Sunday & it is almost the same as Mass at the RC church. I am aware that Episcopal Church is part of the Anglican Church which originates mainly in England. So, are the Anglicans considered to be THE Catholic Church over in England like the Roman Catholic Churches are in USA? When I saw the Archbishop of Canterbury meet with the Pope last summer, it appeared that both consider themselves to be Catholic. (even though I know the Pope says he will not break bread with Episcopalians) * So, all I am really asking is if I lived in England, would I say that I am a Catholic if I am Anglican/Episcopalian?
